We all love to travel but it can also be stressful. It’s hard to leave the worries of work, family drama, friends, children and pets you may have left back at home while you travel. One of the best ways to get the most out of your travel dime is to meditate when you travel. If you already meditate regularly you know the many benefits of meditation in your daily life so keep it up, you will enjoy those same benefits while you travel. If you are new to meditation travel can be a great time to start a new meditation practice that you can bring home with you as yet another memento from your trip.

Here are some of the benefits to meditating while you travel, though there are many more benefits as you will find.

1. Meditation Reduces Stress When You Travel

Many people worry about things back home when they travel but travel itself can be very stressful as well. Planes, trains, taxis, luggage, delays, lost bags, rude waiters, lost reservations, bad weather and the list goes on. You want to be able to manage your stress levels so you can really enjoy this wonderful, magical time you have to see new places, people and things. Meditation will help you unplug from the stress and plug into the peace of the universe.

2. Meditation Can Help To Increase Your Energy Level

People who meditate regularly experience an increase in energy. People who meditate regularly feel more relaxed and sleep better which gives them more energy in their daily activities. If you have a rigorous travel schedule, taking just 2 – 5 minutes a day to meditate will give you more energy to keep up with all the fun activities you have planned.

3. Meditation Makes The Act Of Travel More Enjoyable

Meditation is a perfect way to spend time when you are on a plane, train, bus or even in a taxi. When you are on a long flight is the perfect time to practice meditation. You don’t have to spend a lot of time meditating. People benefit from as little as 2 minutes of meditation a day, but obviously you can go longer if you want. You can meditate while you’re standing in a line, sitting in a chair or seat, walking or in just about any situation your travels find you in.

4. Meditation Helps You Connect With Nature So You Can Enjoy The Present Moment

If you’re out hiking or happen to be staying near the beach or a park, these are great places to stop and take a few minutes to meditate. Take a moment, slow your breathing, close your eyes, and just be where you are. You will find that you connect with the world around you on a whole new level.

5. Meditation Helps You Get Along Better With Those Around You By Increasing Feelings Of Wellness

Meditation relieves stress and puts you in a better mood. It really puts life into perspective and you’ll find that you get along better with those around you. This is especially helpful if you are traveling with a group of people. Sometimes personalities clash but it doesn’t have to ruin your trip, or even your day. With regular daily meditation you will find that you get along better with the people around you and cope with the little things much better.

Not sure how to meditate? YouTube is full of video tutorials to help you practice the art of meditation. You can also get books, download audio files or videos and take your meditations with you on your computer or in your phone. You don’t really need anything to meditate. The simplest meditation is to set a timer, sit in a comfortable position, close your eyes, and focus on your breathing until the timer goes of. If you find your thoughts wandering off onto other things, you simply bring the focus back to your breathing. You don’t judge yourself if it’s hard and your mind keeps wandering off into thoughts, with time that will happen less and less.

Have a great trip and enjoy your time meditating as you travel!
