Orientation Meeting
It is exciting to arrive to a new city or country, but it can also be disorienting. We want to help you feel comfortable and confident in your surroundings as soon as possible. On Day 1 of the tour, our programs begin with an orientation meeting and program overview. This meeting is a wonderful opportunity to get to know one another and discuss the week ahead. Afterwards, we will embark on an orientation walk to help you familiarize yourself with the neighborhood. We may enjoy a casual dinner together before settling in for the night. To ease arrivals, our hosted, welcome meal typically takes place the following day to ensure everyone is present and well-rested.
Where and When to Meet
Usually our tours begin at 4:00pm on Day 1 with an Orientation Meeting, and we gather in the breakfast or bar area of our hotel. The specifics of the orientation meeting will be provided well in advance of the tour start. The time and location of the orientation meeting, as well as confirmed hotel information, will be provided to tour participants through our Travel Guide.
When planning flights, try to give yourself time to travel from the airport and arrive at your destination with some time to rest. We advise sheduling your arrival one or two days prior to the tour start. We do know this is not always possible.
Early Arrivals
For those arriving early, the hotel will have your name and reservation ready. A voucher is not required; just show your passport for check-in. If you arrive before check-in time and your room isn’t ready, the hotel staff will gladly hold your bags. Use this opportunity to explore the neighborhood or unwind at a nearby café. The hotel staff can provide maps and recommend activities for your first day. If available, consider taking a hop-on hop-off bus tour for a scenic overview of the area and a convenient way to combat jet lag.
