Mixed Media Art Workshops in Europe
Mixed media programs bring collage, textiles, slow stitching, and other layered materials into settings chosen for their color, texture, and everyday detail. These programs include daily instruction usually in a hotel breakfast room, terrace, or common area, where your artist-teacher guides you through techniques that blur the lines between drawing, painting, and assemblage. Mark making is at the core of mixed media work — the expressive lines, textures, and gestures that give each piece its energy and personality. Your artist-teacher will help you develop your own mark-making language, building layers that feel intentional and alive.
The Destination Becomes Your Material
What makes these programs distinct is the way the places you visit become part of your art. Market finds, printed ephemera, pressed flowers, ticket stubs. The destinations you explore during the day often end up layered into the work you create in your sessions. Your artist-teacher will show you how to turn what you find into something playful and layered, a page that holds a small piece of the day. Sometimes what you gather isn't an object at all. A conversation with a market vendor, an afternoon in someone's home studio — these find their way into the work too.
Every Skill Level Welcome
Whether you've never picked up a glue stick or you keep a room full of papers and ephemera at home, mixed media art workshops offer the space to experiment with expert guidance and a small group of fellow creatives.
Your Workspace
Table space is shared, and, unless otherwise noted, materials are packed up after each session. The workspace is simply where the day's gathering turns into the day's creative session.
Walking
Walking is part of every mixed media program, and it's often where the day's materials come from. Most days include two to four hours on foot, through markets, historic centers, and neighborhoods most travelers never see. What you find along the way becomes the raw material for your next session.
A Note on Pace
