Art Program
Using the experience of travel, you’ll create a journal capturing your time on the French Riviera. Each day an art class with Tiffany will introduce techniques to transform your journey into creative expression. Notice the colors and sounds of the markets, the pattern and texture of the villages we visit. Collect ephemera, feel the warmth of the sun, and watch the movement and light of the sea.
Tiffany will guide you through using found treasures and local discoveries to create a layered mixed media journal. You will work with a limited color palette and supplies to create your very own artist book. It will include textiles, stitches and other mixed media techniques. Get inspired and renewed with our friendly group of like-minded artists. Come soak in the beauty of the French Riviera.
Travel
Our days will be a blend of travel and creativity. Each day will include an urban stroll or coastal walk of 1-2 hours. Most days we will set off by train to discover a new area along the French Riviera. We will visit colorful French villages and walk along rustic seaview trails. You will have time to browse brocantes (flea markets) and fresh produce and flower markets. (The longer walks may be optional if you are comfortable navigating to our destination by train or taxi.) In the afternoons, after free time for lunch and exploration at our given destination, we will return by rail to the hotel for art class.
I took Tiffany’s kitchen sink class and it did not disappoint. She is a fabulous instructor, upbeat and energetic. She kept the class on task without taking away any of the comradery from the students. It was absolutely the most fun class I’ve ever taken and I will absolutely take more classes from Tiffany. Life altering fun!

Fitness
Walking is a part of this program. It is both a means of visiting locations and a way to immerse yourself in a place. Our scheduled walks are usually 1-2 hours long at a casual pace. We provide a general description of our walks here. It is your responsibility to know your own physical and medical condition with respect to the advisability of participating in a chosen trip. We suggest you prepare by doing at least 1 hour of walking several times per week, and a longer walk at least once per week. Ideally, include walks with elevation change and stairs. (There are always stairs.)
As with any exercise program, we recommend you consult with your physician prior to your arrival regarding the suitability of a walking tour.
Some of our guests find trekking poles helpful on steep or uneven terrain. In Europe they are quite common. Before using them on a vacation, please practice at home. We strongly advise you get comfortable using trekking poles on familiar paths first.
For additional information on these topics and more, please see our FAQ page.
