European walking tour specialist The Blue Walk has announced the 2018 tour dates for the first of the company’s numerous Greece walking tours. The 9-nights Blue Walk Greece, which explores Athens and the islands of Amorgos and Naxos, is scheduled for Oct 2-10, 2018. The tour can be supplemented with a 3-night Santorini Island Extension, which will depart seamlessly the following day, from October 11- 14. The company is also offering a complimentary night to guests and 15% travel agent commission if booked before September 30.

The tour begins with a night at a 4-star hotel near Athens’ Syntagma Square, the heart of the city. The following day, guests enjoy a guided walk to the National Gardens or the Acropolis and also visit the Changing of the Guards.

Guests then take a scenic ferry ride to the island of Amorgos, where they will be treated to a welcome dinner and spend six nights in a 5-star spa hotel, in rooms that feature private balconies and sea views. Considered among “the most beautiful” of the Greek islands, Amorgos was the location for the award-winning movie, “The Big Blue.” Naturally, the movie was celebrated as “one of the most stunningly beautiful films ever made!” The island offers exceptional walking trails, with ancient footpaths that reward their guests with spectacular views of dazzling beaches, enchanting bays and crystal blue waters.

“Amorgos is a visual treat for the eyes, with charming little villages, winding old towns and a rich cultural history filled with many myths and legends,” noted Jeannette Candau, co-owner of The Blue Walk.

Among a full program of activities are guided seaside walks, a tour of an essential oil distillery, and a visit to the cliff-side monastery of the Virgin Mary, which provides a breathtaking view of the Aegean Sea.

Another ferry ride takes guests to the island of Naxos for two more nights of gentle walking and exploration. Excursions include a visit to the Venetian Palace Museum, Apollo’s Gate, and morning guided coastal walks. Blue Walk Greece is land-only. Rates are $1,995 per person, based on double occupancy, and include all taxes and fees, daily buffet breakfast, and fully escorted guided tours with an English speaking guide.

A 3-night Santorini Extension is also available, which includes a stay at a central hotel, daily explorations of the island’s hidden gems, and a waterfront farewell dinner. Land-only rates are $795 per person, based on double occupancy, and included all taxes and fee, fully escorted tours and an English speaking guide.

“Walking is one of the most natural and healthiest activities we can do that requires nothing more than sensible shoes and the spirit of exploration,” said Candau. “It’s especially true in places like Greece, where nature is at its most beautiful and every turn in the road leads to marvelous new vistas.”
