Switzerland

Switzerland's alpine landscapes offer a completely different palette than our seaside tours. Snow-capped peaks and glacial lakes fill the view, whether you're standing above the clouds or wandering a meadow full of wildflowers. Getting around often means a cogwheel train, a high-speed cable car, or a ferry across a serene lake, each one scenic and comfortable enough to become a highlight in its own right. Programs span sketchbook, painting, and mixed media, inspiring the travel journal you'll build along the way. Art workshops in Switzerland move between mountain and lake, meadow and city, with good company and a cowbell soundtrack the whole way.

Mürren

After an arrival night in Zurich, programs begin in Mürren, a car-free village perched above the Lauterbrunnen Valley. Cowbells sound in the distance, and snow-capped peaks are our daily backdrop. An evening stop at a traditional beer garden in nearby Gimmelwald is part of the rhythm. A walk through the pastoral Lauterbrunnen Valley follows the valley floor past neat farm houses and thundering waterfalls dropping from the limestone walls above.

Lucerne

From the mountains, the program continues in Lucerne, a lakeside city of covered bridges, waterfront promenades, and a historic center made for wandering. Beyond the city, Pilatus offers a mountaintop view above it all, with clouds below and peaks all around. Rigi is softer: rolling meadows, quiet paths, and lakes on every side that seem to catch the sky.

A Note on Pace

We walk together at a group pace, with some flexibility to adjust the route as the day unfolds. For a full breakdown of pace and fitness expectations, see our Walk Levels page.
