Koosje Koene’s Sketchbook Program:
Your Sketchbook is the best travel companion. Drawing is the absolute best way of documenting a trip. When traveling, there are so many impressions and experiences – and emotions too. By sitting down to take it all in, being in the moment, you capture great memories. Memories that remain vivid because you are capturing so much more than you could ever do by snapping a photo. When you draw, all your senses open up. Through your pen and your brush, you capture it all on your page. This is the main theme of your ArtWalk Greece sketchbook travel journal vacation.
During this workshop, we will be on a journey together and will document it all, each in our own way. I will teach you to take it in but not feel overwhelmed by the idea of having to capture it ALL. We will take it bit by bit. Exploring and playing – with line, color, and adding notes. It will be so much fun. By the end of it you will have filled your sketchbook with memories, with each page telling part of the story of your adventure.
What is ArtWalk Greece like?
Experience a sketchbook travel journal vacation that is equal parts an art program and a discovery of Greece. Imagine visiting the beautiful Greek Islands with an insider-guide leading the way. And not from the distance of a cruise ship or passenger bus, but at eye level and with a small group of friends. Become immersed in the sensory experience of travel. A journey where we wander and wonder through the islands. Feel the wind, water and sun. Taste the spices. Dance to the music. Share a laugh with our Greek hosts, and know you are welcome.
For 12 nights, your sketchbook travel journal vacation in Greece will island-hop through the Cyclades. First we visit Athens for its ancient history and vibrant cafe scene. Next you’ll unwind on Amorgos. An undiscovered gem, Amorgos is an authentic, lost-to-time Greek island. Then explore the wide beaches, charming harbor, and quiet countryside of Naxos. Finally find Santorini with its cliff-topped villages perched high above the sea, rich history, and iconic views.
See yourself sketching on a shady terrace only steps from the Aegean, painting one of the hundreds of little churches that dot the islands, or capturing the winding, white-washed streets. …. there are so many beautiful opportunities to see, paint, and experience on our ArtWalk Greece program!
How will you spend your time?
Koosje will teach daily on-site classes that will educate and inspire the pages of your sketchbook travel journal. Resting in a shady taverna or taking in a panoramic view, you’ll be traveling with a small, friendly group of fellow artists. We will also have daily excursions to see and experience our favorite people, places, and things. You should be able to comfortably walk for an hour at a time at a leisurely pace. We will be walking on trails, cobbled paths, pavement, and stairs.
