Overview
Join us for a seven-night mixed media journey through Switzerland with teaching artist Tammy Gilley, an arrival evening in Zurich, four nights in the car-free alpine village of Mürren, then two nights in the lakeside city of Lucerne. Days move by cogwheel train, cable car, and on foot between mountain trails, waterfalls, and lake views, with mixed media sessions folded into the rhythm of each day.
Tammy’s philosophy: it’s about paying attention and being in the moment, not getting from the hotel to destination A for the day. Sessions take what the mountains and lake hand you and turn it into layered, textured pages. By the end of the week, your journal holds Switzerland in paint, paper, and found materials.
The Creative Experience
This is a mixed media program, worked back at the hotel most days, in a shared space with materials packed up after each session. Sessions run about two to three hours, drawing on the day’s mountain views, alpine textures, and lakeside light. By the end of the week, your journal reflects both your own creative growth and the character of the Alps.

About YourArtist-Teacher
Tammy Gilley
Tammy comes from a family of artists, quilters, painters, storytellers, and even played with dolls made from quilting scraps as a child. She’s the creator of The Soulful Journey™, and has kept a creative blog since 2005. A milestone trip to Paris at sixty, her first time back since she was twenty-one, reignited her travel journaling practice completely.
Her students tend to be collectors and storytellers too. “It’s about paying attention and being in the moment,” she says, “not getting from the hotel to destination A for the day.” Her teaching style is loosely planned and highly responsive.

Day by DayYour Itinerary
Programs are subject to change. Actual daily schedule may differ.
Day 1 · Arrival in Zurich
Arrive in Zurich and settle into the hotel for the evening, with a welcome gathering to meet the group.
Day 2 · Up to Mürren
Travel by train and cable car to Mürren, a car-free village perched above the Lauterbrunnen Valley. An orientation walk and welcome dinner follow, with mountain views the whole evening.
Day 3 · Cowbells & Beer Gardens in Gimmelwald
An evening walk down to Gimmelwald for a stop at a traditional beer garden, cowbells sounding in the distance. An afternoon class with Tammy draws on the alpine textures of the day.
Day 4 · Waterfalls of the Lauterbrunnen Valley
A walk through the Lauterbrunnen Valley, past neat farmhouses and waterfalls dropping from the limestone walls above. An afternoon class translates the valley’s colors and textures into the journal.
Day 5 · Farewell to the Mountains, Onward to Lucerne
A free morning to explore Mürren at your own pace, followed by an afternoon class and a farewell to the mountains before the transfer to Lucerne.
Day 6 · Above the Clouds on Pilatus
A morning excursion up Pilatus, with views above the clouds, followed by an afternoon class inspired by the mountaintop. The evening brings a walk through Lucerne’s historic center, its covered bridges lit for the evening.
Day 7 · Meadows & Lake Views on Rigi
An excursion to Rigi, rolling meadows and lake views on every side, followed by a final class and a farewell dinner along Lucerne’s waterfront.
Day 8 · Departure
Breakfast, then depart at your leisure. The hotel will hold bags for later departures.

Traveled, Created, Loved It
“For more than a dozen years I’ve had the pleasure of taking Art walks with The Blue Walk. I’ll keep returning because Suzy and Jeannette curate a joy-filled tour that blends just the right amount of art and travel.”
Linda L“My first trip to Italy and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Jeannette and Suzy have gone above and beyond to create an itinerary that took us places that were not only stunning but certainly ones I may have missed on my own.”
Elizabeth H“Had a great time and enjoyed the many activities. People were terrific and locations - especially the Lake Como hotel - were good. Biggest critique is that there needs to be more art time.”
Sam S“The itinerary was well organized and had something for everyone. I arrived in Paris three days early to acclimate, and hired a guide for a couple of afternoon exploration of the left and right banks.”
Deborah D“Jeanette and Suzy are great organizers and more importantly, great hosts. This is our second Blue Walk and we love it. We enjoy the ease of how the walks, sights, and activities are delivered.”
