Paris is a city made for walking. The best way to get to know its culture, art, and cuisine is by seeing on foot, one block at a time. Everyday we will explore a new neighborhood. On daily urban strolls our women’s walking vacation in Paris will discover the sites, character and culture that make this city so wonderfully unique.

Paris is filled with beautiful and interesting walks. Narrow streets lined with boutiques and boulangeries open onto sidewalk cafes that invite you to sit and watch the world go by. Beautiful boulevards are punctuated by historic monuments and stately architecture. Enticing window displays beckon you to enter. You will rub shoulders with the Parisians and get to know Paris in a whole new way. On our women’s vacation in Paris you will feel like you’ve really seen the city and not just passed through.

What to Expect

Walking Vacation in Paris, France

Discover Paris with a small group of friendly travelers. Each day will include a half day walking tour through the neighborhoods of Paris. Together we will see Notre Dame and Sacre Coeur, visit Luxembourg Gardens and the Louvre’s Tuileries Gardens, shop at boutique ateliers, and dine in family-owned eateries. Along the way, you will experience some of our favorite things, including the Musée d’Orsay, Sainte Chapelle, and a Seine river cruise at sunset.

.
We will use the city metro or bus to speed us along when the walk may be a bit too far.  Most afternoons are free to explore on your own or with fellow travelers.

.
Daily, our walking vacation in Paris will enjoy urban strolls along sidewalks, cobbled streets, and through city parks. Plan to be on your feet for about 11/2 -2 hours at a time. This is not a bus tour with a packed, by-the-minute itinerary. We will go at a leisurely pace to take in our surroundings and stop often for photos. Of course we will take a break if we find something particularly delicious to sample.

.
Our walking vacations understand little luxuries are also an important part of the travel experience. Our select, centrally-located hotel will welcome you home after a day of exploring. Even better, you’ll spend 6 nights at one location. You can unpack and get comfortable.

Twin / Double Rooms

Please be aware twin beds in Europe may have very little or no space between beds. Also, for double beds, instead of a king or queen mattress, double beds are often two adjoining twin mattresses secured together and made with double bedding.

Fitness

Walking is a part of this program. It is both a means of visiting locations and a way to immerse yourself in a place. Our scheduled walks are usually 1-2 hours long at a casual pace. We provide a general description of our walks here. It is your responsibility to know your own physical and medical condition with respect to the advisability of participating in a chosen trip. We suggest you prepare by doing at least 1 hour of walking several times per week, and a longer walk at least once per week. Ideally, include walks with elevation change and stairs. (There are always stairs.)

As with any exercise program, we recommend you consult with your physician prior to your arrival regarding the suitability of a walking tour.

Some of our guests find trekking poles helpful on steep or uneven terrain. In Europe they are quite common. Before using them on a vacation, please practice at home. We strongly advise you get comfortable using trekking  poles on familiar paths first.
